Sandton Pulse & Place
About Sandton Pulse & Place
Sandton is written about constantly and understood narrowly. It appears in the business pages as a share price with a postcode, and in property listings as a yield. Both are true and neither is the place.
Sandton Pulse & Place exists to cover the precinct as somewhere people actually spend their days: the architecture you walk past, the squares you cross, the lunch under the towers, the trade-offs of working here instead of from a spare room at home.
What we cover
The work splits along two honest lines.
The pulse is the editorial half: the architecture and the new developments, the green upgrades that rarely make the photographs, the food and the culture, and the people building the next version of the precinct.
The place is the practical half: how the precinct works as a place to work, move through and spend time in, written for the resident, the hybrid worker and the owner, not for a brochure.
How we work
We write about things that are true and checkable. Where a story leans on a figure or a claim, we say where it comes from. We do not run anonymous reviews of named businesses, and we do not publish a ranking we would not defend.
If you have a tip, a correction or a building worth a closer look, we want it. This publication is better for being argued with.
Common questions
Is Sandton Pulse & Place affiliated with a developer or the city?
No. It is an independent publication. It takes no brief from any property developer, landlord or municipality, and marks any paid placement clearly if one ever runs.
What does the publication cover?
The Sandton precinct in Johannesburg: its architecture and new developments, its public and green spaces, its food and culture, and the shift back to working from the precinct rather than from home.
